Somebody mentioned 2000 AD and i'm no expert but from the issues i've owned my favourites we're Early Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson, (i always prefer the black and white detailed drawings).
Also really liked Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper and Slaine. ( the Slaine Story 'The Horned God' is in my opinion truly great, i think it's available as a graphic novel).
Also really love 'Hewligan's haircut' which is a 90's trippy tale by the bloke who drew Tank Girl and did Gorillaz stuff with the bloke from Blur.
