There was a similar situation with Second Run's
Diamonds of the Night, which has virtually no dialogue for most of its length, and then the two teenage protagonists stumble upon a load of elderly and sadistic Germans, when it becomes a full-on talkfest.
But I was struck by the fact that the Czech DVD didn't offer a Czech translation - their HOH subtitles were in Czech or German - and so I put it to Second Run that maybe this dialogue wasn't meant to be translated?
Fortunately, director Jan Nemec was still alive, and he confirmed that the German stuff should
not be subtitled - although he said that he'd like a couple of lines translated towards the end as they were quite important. I think the disc only has a dozen subtitles in total, but nothing's missing.
