Personally i think people are desperate to find certain agendas in things from the past whether it was meant or not. Take the Gerry Anderson series UFO. It's a fetish costume delight but back then it was just seen as sci-fi. |
Ace could never be gay, she got all hot and bothered seducing that solider in Fenric! I find it rather sad that people decide to pull characters or scenes apart well after the fact, I'm sure at the time the writers had their ideas as did the directors and the actors. I can't wait for the day when The Moomins is considered incestuous, maudlin, Scandinavian porn!
The current series has had lots of gay and lesbian characters which is good but also sometimes seems a little desperate to be oh so inclusive. Characters like people in real life are not defined by their sexual preference. There's no getting away from one of Moffats best lines though 'I am a lizard women from the dawn of time and this is my wife Jenny'.
