Whilst It's a Wonderful Life is indeed a classic i wouldn't go as far as saying it's his best performance.

Vertigo, Rear Window,Harvey, Broken Arrow, The Glenn Miller Story, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Bend of the River, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and Anatomy of a Murder all feature better performances from the great man.

Stewart is one of my personal favourite actors.
