A brilliant noir series about the origins of the Batman universe. Much closer in tone to the two Tim Burton films than anything produced by DC the last few years.
No one has superpowers and it's all very realistic and rings true, so far it's akin to Scorsese's Goodfellas with it's mob war story lines than it is silly throwing buildings at one another escapades.
The cast is excellent. I didn't know of lead actor Ben Mckenzie but he's very good as young police lieutenant James Gordon. In fact apart from Sean Pertwee's Alfred and Donal Logue as a rogue cop, the cast is unknown except the excellent Jada Pinkett-Smith as one of the mob bosses.
I can sum this up as superhero stuff that bizarre_eye would enjoy. Ie - no superheroes whatsoever, just noirish crime. |
its excellent and gets better with each season as we see the characters we know so well develop into what they will become and Bruce taking those first early steps to becoming the Batman and the events that shape him. just hope it gets another season as rumours this is the last, the creator had a five year plan so i hop it gets its last season for me this is a better show than the other DC for the reason you have mentioned. Donal Logue plays Harvey Bullock so most who read the comics etc will know who he is.
