I think if anything I've come to the realisation in the last few years....

Star wars is actually pretty shit.

Don't get me wrong, I find it entertaining. But then I've just been to see rampage. That was complete shit bit I found it very entertaining.

More that with age (I'm now 38) I've somewhat outgrown the franchise a little and I'm left with the afterglow of nostalgia. I'm minded to think about goonies as well. I loved that growing up but looking back on it now I realise it was never great cinema. If anything I find myself siding more with Alec Guiness who pretty much saw the paychecks from the series as a great way to finance his theatrical ambitions. I've been a bit of an argumentative prick on this thread. Frankly reading back over it I feel a bit ridiculous. A kids sci-fi / fantasy franchise designed to sell toys, something I'm beginning to realise I probably outgrew. Hell I don't even get to wallow in nostalgia from it anymore seeing as the films I grew up with barely exist. At least with goonies the film on the blu-ray is the film I first saw.

The truth is it's impossible to ruin star wars. It always was. All that matters is if people had a good time or not. In that respect if No one going to see last Jedi had a good time then the film was a failure. If they did it was a success. Beyond that it's all just silly. So for now I'm just going to see the films as they come out. I'm going to say if I liked them or not. I'm not going to lie and say I hated last Jedi because I didn't. I may think otherwise if I check it out on Netflix as the small screen can change my opinion on a lot of films.
