I didn't know he died in 2010, but I'm guessing the news wasn't widely reported in the UK. I'm not sure why I connected with the humour in his cartoons so, you like him, I broke my neck and spent a lot of time in hospital, but that wouldn't explain why I liked his cartoons beforehand.
When I was in a spinal unit (I spent time in two different ones), the first time I saw the cartoon below this text, I thought it was hilarious despite, or perhaps because, some staff members thought it was extremely bad taste.
