Thanks everyone for your blaxploitation films lists – there are quite a few mentioned which I haven't seen and are now on my wish list.
This week is comedy similarly broad, with the definition of a 'fish out of water' film coming from the BFI:
"Cinema has long thrived on the plot device in which our heroes find themselves completely out of their depth in a new environment."
Think of films where one of the main characters isn't necessarily a real fish out of water, but someone in a completely alien environment and the drama, comedy, horror, or aspects of dramatic tension follow from them adapting to new cultural mores and others adapting to them.
