Finished the second and last series of so called children's drama
The Feathered Serpent.
It took a couple of episodes to get into but come the end patience is certainly rewarded. Set in early Mexico at an Aztec temple, this is a brilliant drama about the high priest Teshcata attempting to seize power of the Aztec nation.
The reason i said 'so called children's drama' is because it features things you'd never see in childrens television nowadays - Murder, ghosts, tombs with people being buried alive, stabbings, blood, lots of blood, a witch suffocated to death using her familiar - a mummified corpse of a child, knife fights...i could go on.
Former Doctor Who Patrick Troughton is superb as Teshcata, to put it bluntly he's a murderous evil bastard and Diane Keen is also a stand out as the Empress Chimalma. The sets (it's studio bound) are well designed and the costumes are truly excellent.
A dark, brooding series. Highly recommended, especially as it's a mere three quid in Network's ongoing Bonkers sale.
