It's an on-going problem
Apparently the way around it it to go back a page, and then return to the page with the post you want to like - i.e, if you are on page 50 of a thread, go back a page to page 49, and then return to page 50. This seems to work for most people
If you are on the first page of a thread, however, you will have a problem 'liking' anything!
