I think it fits the Wikipedia definition I mentioned earlier:
"A buddy cop film is a film with plots involving two people of very different and conflicting personalities who are forced to work together to solve a crime and/or defeat criminals, sometimes learning from each other in the process."
As the plot of
Midnight Run (to the best of my memory) unfolds to involve a mismatched couple collaborating to bring down a mob boss and expose the use of dirty money, it strikes me as a buddy cop movie and is on my current long list.
