Poltergeist (1982)
Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg's film is a throw everything at the screen exercise in film making and about as scary and intense as a bowl of Cornflakes.
Like so many kids films of the eighties - The Goonies, The Lost Boys - I'm looking at you here - this clearly had to be seen at the time to be truly loved because as someone in their forties watching this for the first time it really wasn't very good at all.
