A model looking for an apartment in New York cant believe her luck when she finds a really cheap place with an amazing view slap bang in the middle of the city. She is soon introduced to her neighbours a more intrusive welcome than she would of expected or liked. Introductions out of the way Alison hopes to get settled in but a lot of strange things start happening she can't sleep hearing lots of noise in the apartment above but when she complains to the real estate agent she is told no one lives in the apartment over her. Alison then starts having some physical problems headaches and collapsing for no reason along with constant flashbacks of her troubled past.
This is a hard one to review to get to the point i loved it but to really do a proper review i feel i need to watch it a few times there is alot going on that needs processing im sure im missing tons of imagery and things happening in the background. There is a real creepy atmosphere especially when its a film about the horrors of the mind as the mind is the most dangerous place to be. The Sentinel is packed with eccentric characters that make this a real surreal affair from a cats birthday party to some overly frisky lesbian ballerinas. This is definitely one i'll revisit many time and like i said im sure ill get more out of it. One more thing to mention is the use of real disfigured people not something that would be acceptable these days i'm sure even back in the 70s it was a controversial decision but it really worked well for me.
Sorry this review is a bit shit hopefully i can flesh it out abit more after another few viewings.
