Jonathan Creek: The Grinning Man. When a young woman disappears from a locked attic room in a foreboding Victorian mansion, the same room in which seven others have vanished without trace, Jonathan is soon called in, and suspects that a deliberate murder device aimed at one victim in the 1930s has somehow been claiming other victims for the last 70 years. The 2008 Creek Xmas special is great fun as ever. The scene with Joey in the attic bathroom may well be the scariest moment in the whole series.
