I like The Card Player and I think that it was the last Argento film to have really good cinematography. I can recall that the Card Player cinematographer Benoit Debie said that he told Dario that every shot didn't need to be perfect. Unfortunately Argento seemed to take that advice too much on board for his future projects.
Having said that, maybe Dracula would have looked much better if they hadn't been so singularly obsessed with whether the 3D was working or not.
