Default October we salute you

Hellbound: Hellraiser II...
Don't think I have watched any of the series for along time to be honest...In fact I was never a big Clive Barker fan, whether it was his books or his movie's..And for me time has not been kind to this second Hellrsaiser movie, for a movie from the late 80s it feels very dated and very stale...Not even the copious amounts of gratuitous gore can save it from being a bit on the dull side if I'm being truthful...That said Kenneth Granham does an admirable job of trying to take it all seriously, while coming out with some of the most ludicrous dialogue...Clare Higgins and Ashley Laurence, look like they want to be anywhere else but in this movie and Pinhead is turned into a bit of a wimp as opposed to the icon horror character we all thought he was, good job none of those cross over movies ever happened,Jason and Leatherface would of kicked his ass back to hell...I just don't think the Hellrsaiser movies are as good as they think they are...I think I would rather watch Troll 2 than revisit the Hellrsaiser films again I'm afraid....next...I'm just not a fan I'm afraid...

Tenebrae...
While there is no doubt that Suspira is Argento's finest hour, I have probably watched Tenebrae and Deep Red more... Back in the day I had a original Vampix VHS of Tenebrae, and it got played to death back then...(hey we only had four TV channels,no internet and shops were closed on Sundays. What else are you gonna do,and porn was only available discarded in the wood's or the top shelve of your local unfriendly newsagent, and I couldn't go there because A,I was to young and B, he knew my mum and sold roll up tobbaco to my dad)...,umm where was I?? Oh yeah Tenebrae, just bloody great, literally, plot holes the size of bus, nothing really makes sense, and characters act totally unbelievably, and tramps get kicked in the nuts, what more could you ask for...And I also fancied Eva Robins, but will we talk about that another day...

Madhouse...1974..
Who knew that there would be so many movies with this title...Apart from the dullness of the title,I have always found this an enjoyable if a little underwhelming movie...A great cast for a start,Price,Cushing,Quarry and a small but nice part for Linda Hayden... It mixes parts of Prices previous movies like Theatre of Blood and his Phibes films, and then it actually takes parts from his Corman/Poe films and incorporates them into the filmography of his on screen character Paul Toombes.... genius...The ending Which I won't divulge just in case,is a little bizzare, especially
Adrienne Corri and her spiders ...

Motel Hell..
For me Motel Hell is right up there with Evil Dead 2, for it's mix of horror and black comedy, but it's always a film that I always seem to for get about when I'm looking for something to watch...Also it's one of those movie where I saw the pictures in Fangoria magazine long before I saw the film, most notably the scene where farmer Smith is wearing a pigs head and wielding a chainsaw, what's not to like....And what a tagline...
*“It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters"...

Halloween 2...1981...
Just to annoy people further,I'm going on record to say I prefer Rick Rosenthal
sequel more than the first movie, there I said...And I have probably watched it more than the first as well, the old VHS copy back in the day was always on this time of year...And I certainly prefer this film to any of Mr Zombies remakes or subsequent reimaginings ...Oh I know it's not perfect, Laurie Strodes wig is well a fright to say the least, also it's obviously not NHS hospital because no one seems to be at home and shooting Michael in the eyes, without blowing his head off was either down to Very good marksmanship or well who knows ... Also the bit where the mother takes her son to A&E because he has a razor stuck in his teeth is to real for comfort, it's like the scene in The Thing where they slice there thumbs for the blood test, that's the painful bit.....
