Dominic West plays Scrooge's young nephew Fred, who tries to bring a smile when speaking to the two charity collectors. Liz Smith returns from the 1984 version as the same character Mrs Dilber.
This does have a nice touch to it with the miners, mariners and then a prisoner singing to which the rest of the prisoners join in, and on Christmas day Scrooge attending a church and finding his voice while singing Christmas Carols to the point you realise he has discovered what it really means. Was lucky enough to see Stewart's one man show of a Christmas carol, you think it wouldn't work, but it was amazing , really showed what a great actor he is as all the characters felt different.
