An event full of McMahon over-exaggerated hyperbole! This was actually *not* the first time that Andre had been body slammed. Numerous wrestlers had previously achieved the feat, including many men much smaller than Hogan. More importantly, the much quoted " WWF record attendance of 93,173 and the largest recorded attendance of a live indoor event in North America at the time" has been called into question, and the fact that the venue for the event, the Pontiac Silverdome, has a capacity of 80,311 lends credence to this. A much more creditable figure is around 78,000, but hey - why let the facts get in the way of a good story! |
