You can see with the albums Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All and The Black Album why they became one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Releasing four albums of such quality one after the other is beyond virtually anyone else. |
Master of Puppets is my favourite Metallica album and the one I still consider their best – the title track, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), and Battery are timeless classics, and Orion is a beautifully crafted instrumental piece.
I'd put their self-titled follow-up in second place – it's a brilliant album and I keep meaning to buy the remastered CD release.
