The Iron Man is a wonderful book, one I remember my parents reading to me when I was young and I read it myself when I was old enough. I'm sure the copy I have had the same monochrome cover illustration as the one you bought.

The imagery at the beginning of the titular character assembling itself is very evocative and the showdown with the brilliantly named space-bat-angel-dragon is very powerful.
