Think of it as the difference between Hammers 'Horror Of Dracula' and Eli Roth's 'Hostel' - The horror and sentiment are the same, but one is more 'traditional' and one is 'what is currently in vogue'
Alice life for me began with Kane Roberts and half of the band Winger so atmospherics were well out the window then, (Zipper Catches Skin, my first Alice record doesn't count as i still don't know what that is even though i like it ).
