I agree! And not only old nasties -- I'm thinking of films like
Zone Troopers where an open matte version exists (I have a file of it), that was used in VHS, but is not in any DVD or Blu-ray edition. It would be a fun version to watch. Wouldn't even need a really high bitrate, so it could be just an extra, instead of a whole disk.
