Although this particular story was mainly filmed in the studio, it was the first 'Doctor Who' story to feature some 'on-location' filming
These scenes were filmed at Misbourne Road (the Isle of Wight Farm in Gerrards Cross) and Tilehouse Lane (the grounds of White Plains, a nursing home in Denham) on June 15th, 1964.
However, because the regular cast were in rehearsals for 'The Sensorites', William Hartnell was doubled in these shots by Brian Proudfoot (who had attended the recording of episode three of 'The Sensorites' in order to study Hartnell's mannerisms and style of walking)
Hartnell himself would have to wait until 'The Dalek Invasion Of Earth' before he got to any outside filming
