I can't find any record of this conversation, but if it was "ages ago" the reply was almost certainly that they weren't available for licensing, a situation that didn't change until surprisingly recently (which is why nobody else has put them out on Blu-ray until now).
But I can confirm that they've been after the Confessions films for years - it's been one of the most requested Indicator releases almost since the label's inception. Someone even did mock-up artwork once upon a time!
