I've seen The Northman twice, once when I was a little distracted by people talking, and once when I gave it my undivided attention.
I think it's an intense and powerful tale of revenge Hamlet, with an exceptional central performance from Alexander Skarsgard. I've been meaning to give it a third watch before filing the disc away, but haven't found time to do that yet.
I initially thought it was inspired by Hamlet because the story parallels Shakespeare's famous tragedy until I read that Amleth was the inspiration for Shakespeare's play.
