Terror (1978) Terror doesn't appear to have much in the way of plot and plays out like a string of murder set pieces loosely connected to a three hundred year old witch named Mad Dolly. Terror is often cited as influenced by Dario Argento's classic 1977 shocker Suspiria and for the first hour it's a bewildering connection. However during the last half hour director Norman J Warren delivers a sustained exercise in pure terror and violent bloodshed which those familiar with Argento's work will definitely see similarities. This same final third also features a scene with a car in the woods that had it been part of Raimi's Evil Dead three years later would have gone down in the annals of horror cinema.
For those interested in spotting stars or future stars of genre cinema and tv Terror is a veritable smorgasbord featuring as it does Michael Craze, William Russell and Peter Craze (Doctor Who), Glynis Barber (Blake's 7), Peter Mayhew (Star Wars), John Nolan (Doomwatch and Nolan's Batman films) and Milton Reid (Hammer films) among it's varied cast.
