"UPDATE: David Moore's Films

As promised, here's a short update on the preliminary examination of the films comprising David Moore?s collection, which were removed from the family home, and are now in-situ at De Montfort University's Kimberlin Library, within the Special Collections Department.

Firstly, the vast majority of the films prints are on 16mm. There's a small number of 35mm items, including some negatives that are in very poor condition. In addition, there?s a small number of 8mm and 9.5mm Pathe scope films.

The majority of the films are in cans or cartons. Some of the latter show evidence of damp, and there is spotting (mould). Approximately 80% of the cans are marked, identifying a film or television episode. None of the separate reels (88), which are not in cans, are marked.

A spot examination of 10 cans, all b&w television episodes, showed the condition to be mixed. 3 items were very good. 4 good, while the remainder were in fair to poor condition. A fuller examination is required to identify warpage, and sprocket damage, etc.

Overall, there's a great many episodes of television. These are predominantly from the 1950s and 60s, with productions by the Danziger Brothers, items from Associated-Rediffusion, and BBC television, in significant numbers. Several have already been identified as missing, and a quantity are rare.

The missing and rare items will be scanned for preservation purposes. The details of the items will be announced once the scans have been returned to the copyright holders."
