The Sacrament. 2013.
Patrick who works with VICE, a company that deals with bizarre news travels to a remote religious community and joined by Jake and Sam who work with him to find his sister, and slowly realise there is more to the community than some make it out to be.
Ti West has brought us some good and questionable movies to the screen and ups the anti with a found footage movie that is set in a place called Eden Parish in the middle of nowhere. Clearly a rip on Jim Jones and Jonestown massacre with the not so great drinking fresh orange juice and paranoia of the intending apocalypse that Jones always predicted would happen and his suicide. Gene Jones plays the religious nut everyone calls "father" and the way he conducts the interview infront of his followers is brilliant with decent writing that starts off good then able to twist things around so he is asking the questions. I want to say this was great movie but I can't, it's good for the tense moments and acting.
