When I was working at a cinema in the late 80's, all the advertising posters we sent out for promo purposes (i.e hanging in the local bus station and on the ferry between Gosport - Portsmouth) were supposed to be returned to the cinema where they were then returned to the film company along with the reels of actual films
Occasionally, some of them went missing tho, such as the Disney posters which the cinema manager pinched and the cult horror film ones that I pinched!!
