King Kong (1933)

The daddy of all giant monster movies, so brilliantly created that it's lost none of it's charm or indeed suspense - The fight between Kong and the T-Rex during the jungle chase is still brilliant - with Willis O'Brien's stop motion effects stunning for their time and still something quite wonderful to behold with the giant ape given genuine personality especially in it's eyes.

A film that promised audiences a giant monster and they sure as shit got one.

I was really impressed with the Blu-ray image on this. I wasn't sure how the fX work would hold up but it's terrific. There's real depth to the fighter plane attack on Kong during the finale with the model work seamless against the cityscape. Stunning all told.
