Eraserhead. 1977.

Henry and his girlfriend live in a run down area and try to survive while taking care of a mutant screaming baby. Only David Lynch could come up with something strange and weird. The film I never really appreciated due to the slow pacing but somehow this has grown on me. This is like watching something through the mind of someone who is having a bad dream or nightmare about living in a dilapidated part of a world that can only exist in universe with very few people. The other way to look at is some people trying to survive a post apocalyptic nuclear war, hence the mutations and surrealism of the outskirts of the building and the effects of nuclear fallout. Either way this film still stuck with me for a bit after watching this for a third time.
