Factory Girl (2006)
Sienna Miller in something of a career defining role plays Andy Warhol's muse, the poor little rich girl Edie Sedgwick, the American heiress and model who would go on to inspire the likes of the Velvet Underground and Bob Dylan. Focussing on her dealings up to her death at the age of just 28 of a drug overdose.
I like the fact that director George Hickenlooper challenges perceptions of Andy Warhol's so called factory set and he, as played by Guy Pierce, doesn't come out of this smelling of roses. Far from it in fact as when Warhol was asked what Edie Sedgwick was and meant to him he came across as an uncaring individual who after us watching cavort with Sedgwick the entire film to be so dismissive of her, well he needed a good slap - the self indulgent prick.
A stylish film but just like Warhol, there's not a lot below the surface.
