Where To Start With 70s Kung Fu?
 

Hi folks,

I have picked up a good range of low budget Hong Kong kung-fu movies from the 70s on second hand DVD and I'm planning to do a review series of these, but first I'd like to see some of the real thing to compare. Can anyone recommend a few 'must see' titles for the genre and possibly a book or two to research first.

There is also Hong Kong Babylon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hong-Kong-Ba...g+kong+babylon - which is an exploration into the Hong Kong film market, chronicling its history and worldwide influence, profiling its most important films and figures while providing photographs, filmographies, and a video guide.

You've got to see Master of the Flying Guillotine, if you haven't already. Hapkido is another.

The DVD by 20th Century Fox offers excellent quality.

Just a heads up that UK Netflix are showing more and more 70s martial arts films at the moment.

It's a cinema I enjoy but have no knowledge of, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
