Hi, yeah, the mist, the atmosphere, and the score were the highlights of the movie for me. Like watching somebody's dream (Or nightmare).
K Macoll is a very attractive woman too, eye candy is an added bonus...

The soundtrack is wonderful. Favourite part is just after Father Thomas hangs himself and it goes into that finger-picking acoustic guitar piece. So unexpected for a film like this - and utterly brilliant.

Italian horror scores were so distinct and interesting back in their day. Goblin comes to mind.
The zombies in Fulci's films are probably the best i've ever seen too. Extremely unnerving, sinister, and revolting to look at. Scary, even.
For the record, I'll go as far as to say, that they are more effective on film, than Romero's zombies..
Fulci's zombies actually look like real, walking bags of pus and maggots, real disgusting.

Thats my favourite part of COTLD's score too, I love it as the music progresses and the flute part comes in.Great stuff!

Yeah, Fulci's seasoned Spaghetti shufflers aren't exactly pleasant to look at are they?

Especially in City and the director gives us plenty of close-ups of the zombies faces in all their grotesque, grimy and grisly glory.
The deadster attack in the local tavern, the female flesh-ripper who pops up at the little boy's window and the previously mentioned zombie who leaps off the bridge and lands right in front of the viewer. Many a hideous and ugly but ultimately memorable cranium crushing corpse there to look at.

The ending is what it is. A great Zombie flick from one of the masters. City of the Living Dead, or The Gates of Hell depending on where you live, is one of my favorite Fulci films. It sits up there with House by the Cemetery, Zombi, and The Beyond. Great story telling and serious "What the Hell was that" moments. Love it. I NEED the EC Laserdisc too, damnit!

Exactly! I agree with you. To be perfectly honest with you, I couldn't sit and eat a meal while watching a Fulci movie, thats for sure. Don't know about you though?

"SEASONED SPAGHETTI SHUFFLERS". Sounds like something you'd see on a menu, down your local restaurant! Nice! The Fulci two 4 one deal! lol

Not a good idea to eat whilst watching a Fulci Zom movie....crisps or popcorn maybe, but meat is definetly off the menu....

I could probably manage a meal while watching Fulci's other zombie flesh feasts. But i think keeping food down in the presence of a COTLD screening would possibly be pushing it for me!

All that in-your-face graphic grue and deadster ugliness may well be too much!
