It sure is.
It'll be fascinating to see the other Goblin scored version.

Last time I saw Martin was years ago on channel 4, anyone else remember that showing? I had no idea it was a Romero film at the time and was quite surprised at how bloody it was.The scene where Martin rams a stick through a guy's throat always stayed with me.

I remember that showing! The opening scene on the train had me hooked. Such a great film.

Totall fantastic.
I never started out as a fan of Martin, but as I got older it grew on me no end.

First time I saw it I may have been expecting a straightforward vampire movie.
How wrong I was.!

Right, I have never seen this but have long wanted to due to my love for Romero, just saw it was coming out over at dvdtimes (or digitalfix...) and when I saw the cracking £10.99 price at play.com I had to order as I really am loving these Arrow special editions and don't mind supporting in the slightest.

What is the general consensus on Martin from people who have only watched it for the first time recently and have gone from seeing Romero's ...of the dead series of films first?

Well, I only saw it for the first time last year, after having seen the five Dead films that had come out at that point as well as quite a few of Romero's other films, and was still absolutely captivated by it. Ultimately, it depends on you, and your willingness to go along with it despite the fact it's more an ambiguous, slow-burn character study (the closest Romero has come to gritty realism) rather than some of the more exuberent gorefests he has done otherwise. You may well not quite like it the first time you see it, but as others in this thread have attested, it will haunt your mind and won't let go until you see it again, at which point you may discover it's a "grower".

As you say, with the price you can't go wrong - if you really don't like it, I'm sure you could get a decent price for it on eBay.

Ok folks - the lovely people at Arrow are wondering if any of you have a suggested name for this edition of Martin? They might not call it anything - no point spoiling it but would be good to communicate to mere mortals that it's a vampire film for instance and/or maybe it should reflect on the fact this edition has three versions of the film. If they use one of the suggestions the clever person responsible will get a whole copy to own forever!
