I saw the film in the early 90's when VIPCO rose Lazurus-like from the the dead and began re-issuing some old classics. The BBFC sanctioned 18-rated Zombie Flesh Eaters because somewhat infamous for all the wrong reasons when VIPCO touted it as the uncut theatrical version, which if one read between the lines meant that BBFC has not further cut the version they originally cut for it's UK theatrical run. Thankfully, and this is the crucial point - the removal of most of the splatter did not make the film any less brilliant. It was my first Italian Horror film and what a beginnng ! A few years later I finally saw the uncut version and realized that the VIPCO re-issue had completely removed the pre-credit sequence !

I think I first discovered it in around 1991 thanks to the Dark Side magazine, but it would be another year or two before I saw it, bought the Vipco VHS off a mate who had no interest in Horrors, but bought a load of vids off someone else. I paid £7 for it and it's still part of my collection to this day. Then I bought the UK DVD version (that I sold years ago) which was slightly longer, but still cut by about 30 seconds. Finally got an uncut version from ebay about 10-11 years ago, the Italian Shock edition which includes the soundtrack. I also have the 2 disc R1 DVD from Media Blasters and the BU Blu Ray, plus the Arrow slipcase and steelbook editions on pre-order.

I hadn't even seen Dawn of the Dead or Night of the Living Dead yet at the time, but I rented Zombie Flesh Eaters as a 10 year old or something before it was banned. I loved it, but remember feeling a tiny bit cheated by the blurb on the back "What follows in the Caribbean and later in New York is truly terrifying" - I guess I was expecting a 3 hr epic or something!? ![]()

Just cancelled my HMV pre-order for Arrow's unlimited Blu set of ZFE at £13.00, as it's gone down a couple of quid to £11.00.Needless to say I've re-ordered it at the cheaper price. ![]() ![]()

I wonder what a direct sequel would have been like if it picked up with the remaining cast arriving in a zombie infested New York City |

That's one of the reason why I prefer Amazon, as I don't have to worry about that. As soon as the price goes down, my pre-order reflects that. I've even ordered Black Sunday already ![]() |

Well, my copy of The Night Child was ordered at £8 and they reduced it to £7, and then put the price back up to £8, and according to the sticker they only charged me £7, so I'm guessing HMV's price promise does work like that too. Although I do have my copy of ZFE ordered at Amazon, and am kinda hoping they reduce it to £11 like HMV. I did click the 'tell us about a lower price' link and filled in the form, but they haven't reduced it yet (and I did it on Friday ![]() |

![]() Yeah, it's a pain but it's not too much hassle for me to occasionally check their prices and cancel if the pre-order price goes down.I've always had good service from HMV, especially on Arrow pre-orders.
