HOLA...it's 2010 and time to look at some upcoming genre movies. Here are my picks for what seem to be the most interesting....
PEDRO'S 2010 GENRE PREVIEW
This is my first pick of 2010, a comic book movie with a difference. The difference being, no super powers and they're kids. No this is not a Disney movie, it's an adaptation of the Very adult comic book by Mark Miller Creator of WANTED, From the trailers it looks to be very foul mouthed and extremely violent with some nods to popular superheroes. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake) who co-wrote the screenplay with Jane Goldman (Stardust) who just happens to be Jonathon Ross's wife. The film stars Nic Cage and Mark Strong
THE BOOK OF ELI

Next up is a bit of post-apocalyptic action for you, The Book Of Eli, from the directors of From Hell, The Hughes brothers comes this tale of a Lone man who must fight his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that is said to contain the secrets to saving man kind. From the trailers, this is shaping up to look pretty good with a great cast the includes Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman.
Another year, another Romero remake, this time from director Breck Eisner (Sahara) and starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell and Written by the writer of The Machinist. From the teaser Trailer, this is actually looking pretty Good. And as this is being released during a conflict over seas just like Romero's original (Vietnam) Maybe we'll get to see the anti-war undertones in this as we did with the original.

Next up is a Gore drenched Sci-fier starring Jude Law and Forrest Whiticker, that follows a team of 'repo men' who reposes human organs if the owner can't afford repayments. At first this sounds abit too much like Darren Lyn Bousman's Repo: The gentic Opera, but after viewing the trailer, this is a completely different kettle of fish. this looks like an balls out action sci-fi thriller if you ask me.

Next up is Predators, a return to form for the once loved alien hunter who chased arnie through the jungle. After the failed attempt by Paul W.S Anderson to bring AVP to the screen, Fox has finally greenlit the spec script that Robert Rodriguez wrote in 1994 for them. Although he is not directing, he is producing. The Film is being Helmed by Nimrod Antil who brought us Motel horror Vacancy, while the cast is outstanding...It features...
Adrian Brody
Topher Grace
Alice Braga
Danny Trejo
and Lawrence Fishburn.
INCEPTION is Christopher Nolan's follow up to The Dark Knight and features Leonardo De Caprio and Ellen Page. The plot has something to do with the mind, but from the teaser trailer, the visuals are outstanding, like a cross between the matrix and 24, I think the only way to truely understand the plot is to actually view the film. The entire film has been shot on The IMAX system too.

LEGION is described on imdb as...'An out-of-the-way diner becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race. When God loses faith in humankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity's only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner with the Archangel Michael'... that synopses alone get me really exited, The film stars Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid. The Teaser trailer looks very cool with shots of angels holding semi-automatic weapons. This is one film i am looking forward to.
These are my picks for 2010. Also this year sees the release of A Nightmare on Elm Street remake....which looks a bit pooh.
till next time...Keep watching the screens.....peace out
