A couple of years ago I was posting stories on Spaces. Some of them I still love, others I think a fairly average. I quite like this one, I love the idea behind it, although I'm not too keen on the way I wrote it. Let me know if you love it or hate it.

The following was written under the name 'Mysterious Jones' and was originally posted to spaces, it has not been edited:

26 March
The Future

Straight to the Story:

She held closed her eyes and took several deep breathes to avoid tears from streaming.
No one could ever know how deeply saddened she was by the latest passing, it was un-natural to be sad, to be scared in fact a true human being shouldn’t be able to feel anything.
She let go of the images of a face, a face she had known and worked with for 20 years and focused her mind on her business of the day.
She did so love her job (although feelings are banned the emotion of love is permitted when it relates to service of the government) she smiled and managed to open her eyes, barely a tear had fallen.
Unfortunately this being deemed a “loss” she was required to miss the first 15 minutes of her daily duties for an injection.
“Primal instincts are not to uncommon in these situations” said the doctor “which is why it must be taken care of quickly, or the micro chipping and brain scans could all be for nothing and you may be put down.”
No grievances where felt there after and she walked to her office pulling on her gloves.
“I see,” she smiled looking at her client “your hear to tell me about the ‘freeds’ as they so love to be called”
“I swear” he answered back “I know nothing of them just that they broke into my office”
“What did they take?”
“A blue print of the building”
“Did you lock the door?”
“Of course, I always lock it”
“Triple lock it?”
He feel silent
“I see,” her tone became stern “So you let the freeds in?”
“No No I swear”
She sighed and pulled out her knife, her favourite part of the job was the torture, they would either cave in and tell everything or be punished for their crimes against the state.
The State, her one true love and passion.
