Finished reading Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut by J. A. Kerswell. Not a whole lot of text to read as the book features a lot of pics on every page, but what text there is, is at least interesting and informative.

I just finished that one last night myself.

2 deliveries arrived yesterday for me to make a start on "x-cert2" The british Independant Horror Film 1971-1983 by John Hamilton

&

Zombies on Film (wow this book is a heavy beast) by ozzy inguanzo. Nice hardback in luminous yellow

Both presents from my mum for my birthday this coming sunday which I was given in advance to occupy my mind as I am currently half way through tests for suspected colon cancer. Being just 32 about to turn 33 it probably won't be but Granddad died of it in 2009 so they want to rule out my worrying symptoms. It helps to have my mind occupied especially having severe issues with anxiety.

I also intend shortly to revisit "the book of the Dead" Jamie Russell & Psychos! Sickos! Sequels! although the latter is now rather basic and dated having been published some 17 years ago.

Can anyone recommend the best book to get for Italian Horror something that maybe contains pics, reviews, sort of like an ultimate guide? if such a thing exists. Ta

I want to Read Nightmare Movies but a) it's bloody massive and b) it costs a fortune

I picked up the Crimson Peak issue of Little White Lies yesterday and it's really beautiful!

And it reminded me of an amazing book I got for Christmas which is Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities

A collection of props and notes from his films, reproduced pages from his notebooks going back to Cronos and up to Pacific Rim and also ideas and designs for the 'never going to get made' At the Mountains of Madness. The pictures from inside his house are unreal, and the life sized mannequin of Lovecraft crazy guy!

None of the are ultimate horror guides, but I quite like them:

Eaten Alive
As the title says, focused on italian cannibal and zombie movies.

Cinema Italiano
Deals with all kinds of italian cinema and its different waves (spaghetti westerns, crime, peplum, sci-fi, horror...). Doesn't go much in depth but has a good selection of titles covered.

These two I don't own them, so can't comment, but they get nice reviews:

Blood And Black Lace
So Deadly, So Perverse

Then you have books on directors like:

All The Colors of the Dark
Tim Lucas' mammoth on all things Bava.

The Haunted World of Mario Bava

Dario Argento - The Man, The Myths & The Magic

Or these two upcoming books on Fulci, the second one being a re-issue:
Splintered Visions: Lucio Fulci and His Films

Beyond Terror: The Films of Lucio Fulci

And all the best for you, hope it turns out to be nothing!!

I really want All the Colors of the Dark, but there's no way I'm paying the best part of £900 for it!
