John Jakes 'The Bastard' the first in a series of eight novels dealing with a family who emigrate to America during the 18th century.

Presently nearing the end of Frankie Boyle's "Work! Consume! Die!" which is much better than his first book. Nice to see Lovecraft and Robert Anton Wilson being name checked.

I've just started a book by David Icke. I've only read the first 60 pages or so where David explains that he isn't actually schizophrenic, just a misunderstood enlightened one. I flicked a head a few pages, the next chapter is about Zionist bankers who are really Lizard men from the artificially created moon controlling the earth via the Moon Matrix. However you won't believe that as you are way too far gone in their evil plan to ever break free from your shackles of "mind" to party with the spiritual godhead within and without you. I think.

Because me and the other half booked a night's stay in Whitby for April last night, I decided to re-read (for the 100th time) this fine piece of Gothic Literature, in preparation:

Finished John Dies at The End a week or so ago, now 2/3rds of the way through This Book is Full of Spiders.

John Dies at The End is absolutely crazy. It's like Stephen King meets Douglas Adams for a heavy drinking session and waaay too much caffeine.
This Book is Full of Spiders is a much more straightforward story so far. It's crazy enough to make sense that it follows JDaTE, but solid enough to stand on its own. Plus it doesn't have too much to do with JDaTE and what it does, is explained in a way that would make sense to newbies and briefly enough to stop fans of JDaTE feel like they're treading the same ground.

Both are absolutely hilarious and I fully recommend them.

'Masters of the Weird Tale - Karl Edward Wagner'.
Wagner was one of the giants of the 80's horror boom, but a self destructive lifestyle cut his life WAY too short - dead in the early 90's, at only 53.
He was a master of the short story, and is one of my literary heroes. He also edited the majority of the long running 'Years Best Horror Stories'.
The book itself is an oversized slipcased hardcover, full of art, essays on Wagner and all of his short horror fiction.
Can post some pics of the book later, if anyones interested?
