Finished Simon Goddard's book Simply Thrilled: The Preposterous Story of Postcard Records.
This was an unexpected xmas gift, so held off as long as I could haha. Starting with a portrait of the artist whom originally designed the cat pictures that were co-opted as the logo, this is as "warts and all" as we will get it seems. All the usual suspects are featured (Edwyn, Horne, Quinn etc).

Terrance Dicks The Krotons novelisation. Another gift, this is quite similar to a lot of Who stories, in that they turn up and completely debunk a planets belief system with science. Jamie is quite uppity in this one....surely Holmes influence??

The Krotons has always been my favourite Troughton story ever since seeing it as part of The Five Faces of Doctor Who in the early eighties.

I appreciate there are a lot better stories for the second Doctor, but The Krotons holds a place in my heart.

Only about 50 pages to go in Straub's 'Ghost Story' - probably the best contemporary horror novel I've read. An absolute masterpiece, with perfect pacing and fantastic characterisation.

Finished 'The House Next Door', by Anne Rivers Siddons - another masterpiece of horror fiction, though not as well known as GS. A lot more subtle, and ambiguous, than GS, but still packs a real punch. Easily makes my top 5 of all time.

I have read both of these before - THND, this was the third time. GS, the second.
2014 was my best reading year since my late teens/early 20's. Re-read some favourites, and discovered a few new-to-me authors.

Issue 337 of Fangoria. Really enjoying the Wes Craven/Nightmare on Elm Street features. Also enjoyed the Day of the Dead 4 page article.

Just finished a book called Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey.
Easy to read and a lot of fun if you go with it. Sandman Slim was double crossed by his associates and sent to Hell alive. Now he's back and he's pissed! You don't spend a decade in Satan's backyard without learning a few things on the way. Mish mash of horror and hard boiled detective with a few belly laughs on the way. I bloody loved it!!
There's 4 or 5 more of these, I might have to get them.

I've read up to Devil Said Bang but not got round to the latest two.

Just finished cabal, which was the first first barker book that I read. Not as good as I remember and quite tame compared to a lot of his work, but still a fun read. I just wish barker would get around to writing a sequel there was so much potential for a epic group of sequels, but with barkers output of late I might see it in 15 years. To me it seemed to be setting up for somethng bigger, the novel was almost like a prologue

Next up for reading is Ramsey Campbell the doll that ate it's mother which I have not read before
