That's how I felt reading it, when you compare it to his other works, it seems like a different author

Not massively, the main differences being the ages of certain characters e.g. Dany is a lot younger in the books and was obviously aged for the show because of the sexual content of her early scenes with Khal Drogo Well worth reading though, the series is a brilliant adaptation but the books have more detail, I'm flying through them at the minute despite their size

Contrary to what Rik said I found the to shows to differ greatly from the 3rd/4th book onwards. Mainly because of detail which had to be trimmed but also main story arcs too. One which comes to mind is the Ramsay and Reek bromance haha.

You're right, there are noticeable differences in the third book (I'm only a few chapters in with the fourth) Books 1 & 2 are pretty similar to seasons 1 & 2 of the show though

heard Bran is a lot more important in the books, not that he's important in the show(a lot more this season)

What Are You Currently Reading?
It's just the way the books works Treb, each chapter is the POV of a particular character and Bran gets a lot of them. To be quite honest I always hated the Bran chapters haha. The margaery tyrell ones are brilliant though. Her story arc is a lot less clean cut as it was in the series.

You'll enjoy them treb. They may seem daunting but it's worth it. AAANYway ... Pauline Scudamore's 'autobiography' of Spike Milligan. Whilst I wait for my Q Volume 2 to turn up ... this was part of the Bury haul ... things just fall in my lap sometimes ... It's good so far. Far more detail than Norma's book ... but that is understandable as she only knew him from a certain period. Here he relates the early life in India. .. the sobering return to UK .. Jazz ... WWII ... Goons etc that you've all heard before but with more clarity

Recently I found an absolute stonking author and have gobbled up every story of his I can find on my kindle, his name is Adam Howe. He has only written short stories but they are stonking horror/noir/comedy mini masterpieces.....but that could just be my interpretation... There are film and cult culture references, man eating aligators, porn star dwarfs fighting badgers to the death and a horny orang-utan with a penchant for buggery... yes, you read that right. Die Dog or Eat the Hatchet gives you three tales of mayhem; Damn Dirty Apes, Die Dog or Eat the Hatchet and Gator Bait. The pitch black humour had me giggling to the point of having to put the book down to wipe away my tears. Black Cat Mojo is more of the same, this time 4 tales, Of Badgers & Porn Dwarfs, Jesus in a Dogs Ass, Frank- The Snake & The Snake and The Mad Butcher of Plainsfield's Chariot of Death. Finally Tijiuana Donkey Showdown with bonus story Clean up on Aisle 3. I would recommend reading the others before this one as it features a returning character. As you can tell, he is my new fave author, so if you're in the mood for something different and don't know exactly what, give this guy a go and see what you think. If anyone does I'd like to hear your opinion on here, good or bad.
