The shot you've posted is the one which seems to be shown twice in the 1939 film.In the TSOJJ the second fall is rougher & the horse lands headfirst. It also hits some branches sticking out of the side of the cliff.breaking them.

The underrated Lion Of The Desert (1981) has lots of horsefalls, but none have ever been cut. Can't be because of the soft sandy terrain in the sequences as The Wind & The Lion (for laserdisc) & Chato's Land (video & dvd) have lost similar falls. The one in CL is of a horse stumbling as the Posse make their way through a desert.

I was amazed with The Four Musketeers as the tripping is so painfully obvious. Both The Wild Bunch and Never Say Never Again featured horses landing in water though only the latter was cut. The horsefalls in Khartoum (cut over here) are absolutely appalling. |

Its about animal cruelty in hollywood films, its very interesting. It was origianlly produced in 1982 and then another one was produced in 2006(?). You can find them on You Tube. |

The two nastier ones shown in Khartoum are the worse I've ever seen.Death or serious injury( resulting in their destruction) for sure.
