Well the film is mostly made up of images of naked women being sadistically tortured with only a very flimsy story line. It is pretty shocking.

It's difficult to see how the film could ever get passed the BBFC. The fact that Zone Horror screened it uncut is really quite astonshing.

Even with the new BBFC guidelines this film would have a heck of a time with them. I doubt they'd reject it (though they definitely would have under Ferman) but it would definitely receive cuts.

Yes it is a poor film by any standards.

I've seen worse. You could watch it with the Eli Roth audio commentary. He's really coming up with some bizarre notions and good background info.

No idea though when I'll feel a desire to revisit it though...

Anyone seen Larry Clark's Ken Park?

LIkely to be trimmed here if ever submitted. Even today I can't see the sexualised stangulation/suicide getting through. There are also several hardcore sequences but they should pass as this is a serious drama.

Yes the uncut version would pass today very easily.
Fully agree that Deadbeat At Dawn would definitely pass intact today. There are no longer grounds to cut it. Blood Sucking Freaks is exactly the opposite.

Mother's Day was another problem title (rejected for cinema) that would pass intact today.

I've got Ken Park but still haven't got round to watching it yet. What did you think of it Angel?

Well I'm not really a great fan of Clark's, Vince, Kids for example was so depressing. They might be films "with a message" but they don't do anything for me. Ken Park, like Kids, has the usual assortment of unlikeable characters. Difficult to care one way or the other what happens to them.

Still Ken Park is not the type of cheap exploitation film that I have had to watch so much of recently. It's actually a reasonably well made film albeit not a pleasant one. Strangely I don't think it has been released in the US either where it no doubt would get an NC17.

Yes it would be a fairly problematic title for the BBFC, that sequence is not something they have ever passed before. Guess we will just have to see.

Yes there is no reason why Mother's Day should be cut or rejected today. They passed Wrong Way with 20m of cuts but were not willing to pass Mother's Day at all that year. Bizarre.

That commentary is hilarious, he tries to make out the director is some kind of genius. In one scene where a character looks in a mirror he claims it inflenced Taxi Driver!!
