Personally I found the cut version of DW2 far better. The rape itself is so graphic and unpleasant that it changes the mood of the film.

For the cinema/video versions they cut just under 4 mins. The 2005 Columbia DVD was the R-rated print which restored a few (brief) nude shots of the maid but missed out the impact shot of Bronson's daughter's death. The current DVD is an alternate edited print which was then cut by a further 27 secs on top of the pre-edits. In total it's cut by around 3-3½ mins (similar to before).

Watching it again recently I can't see anything being restored at the present time.

I haven't seen the C5 print. If it's the cinema/video version then the maid's rape/assault is pretty much missing. All of the oral assault, underwear ripping & bloody body shots were cut. Some of the closeups of Carol's rape in the warehouse were also removed.

It's even more surprising considering that the Italians often added more gore etc during the 70's/80's exploitation hey days for the Japanese AND German market.
It's no question of demand, quite on the contrary: That's why distributors even release films such as "Chaos" in heavily edited form over there.
But their censors simply refuse to smell the media reality of the 21st century and instead try their best to go back to their 80's scissor-happy tactics.
BTW: Basically all the German underground horror flicks get their uncut and unrated release via Austria these days...

The 2005 R2 DVD is more than enough.However,if anyone wants to go the whole hog,they should track down the R4 Australian DVD which is a direct port from the uncut dvd doing the rounds in Latin America...
