As we're on the subject on horse-tripping, does anyone know whether Django contains any? I was tempted to buy the BU version, but after all this talk about bringing down horses, I'm concerned that an 'Italian 60's Western' would be a prime candidate for such treatment. |

C4 once showed Locust uncut. The DVD basically removes the cockfight, bar shots of the birds approaching each other (similar to the cuts in Far From The Madding Crowd and Return Of The Seven). Locust itself is a brilliant film with a genuinely eye-popping ending and eerie John Barry score. The boy trampled to death by Donald Sutherland is now Freddy Krueger. There are horsefalls in Django but the BBFC have never cut them, even for the old Arthouse video. They must have evidence to prove that they were done without harm to the animals concerned. |

Django does contain a horse trip. In the scene when Django is trying to escape with the gold, he sets his gatling off and a ll the horses start to run. One of them falls over and if you freeze the image you can see wires attached to its legs. The scene wasn't cut by the bbfc.

Michael York's horse is also tripped in an identical fashion in The Four Musketeers. Never cut by the BBFC. All things considered the Musketeer films did astonishingly well with the BBFC. |

Hmmm I wonder why they never cut those scenes? Maybe thet did notice them and turned a blind eye. Last edited by Pete; 16th November 2009 at 12:16 PM. |

Why not ask them? General (ie non-cuts) enquiries are normally quickly responded to.

Thanks Vince, Loops. Think I'll play it safe for now, and stick to my 'Doug McClure Fantasy Adventure Triple Bill' which Postie has just delivered. Least I can rest in the knowledge that "No fake-looking men in rubber suits were harmed in the making of this film". Or were they.....? |

Those Mahars in At The Earth's Core took a bit of a bashing. |

I suppose they died happy trying to get their claws into Caroline Munro.I love the old Amicus monster movies anyway despite the ropey spfx.Warlords Of Atlantis is another firm favourite since I saw the cinema release when I was 10.
