The most frustrating thing is that the print of the film looks lovely and it is the best available version worldwide, to the best of my knowledge.

When you consider some of the rape scenes passed uncut in so many other films, the cuts seem laughable.

I agree with vincenzo. Whilst there was never really any chance of the New York Ripper making it through the state censor unscathed, Venus in Furs is a fairly innocuous film by comparison. And when you consider the strength and the intensity of some scenes of sexual violence that have been passed uncut in other films, that maks the cuts even more difficult to fathom.

As the film has no artistic merit it was cut like that I was led to believe!

Who says it has no artistic merit? Dallamano was a very gifted director and this is a very interesting film.
