The framing of the Optimum version looks superior to the others, the image looks stronger and the colours look more natural too.

Considering the whole point of this release is that its different from previous versions it's not ideal that reviewers are wrongly claiming it's the same as the shriek show ones...I wonder how many people will read this and take it as writ without seeing one of the more involved, comparitive reviews?

I'm glad DVD Beaver have done a comparission, now you can all what I've been saying since Friday. It's a brilliant restoration Mr Morris has done. HMV York had 3 copies in the 'World' section when I looked today.

Just to clarify: does the disc allow you to watch either language version with the subs, or just the Italian track. I've got it that the English version pops up subs automatically for the (restored) Italian passages; just curious if the option is there to watch either version fully subbed for the duration. If it's just the Italian language track that's fully subbed, then no probs -- I'll end up grabbing it shortly anyway.

If yous select the English track, you get subs only for the Italian-only bits. If you select Italian, you get full English subs but you should be able to access these with the English track just by toggling with the subtitle button on your remote. If you're using a software player, it is the second English subtitle option.
