OUATITW is my favourite film of all time.

Is it in a regular case or one of them nice U.S. book releases? (I must get some more of them, I've only got Falling Down)

Just a regular case I believe, like the UK release will be. All extras are just taken from the DVD release. Still, the PQ is meant to be larvely!

There's an Amazon customer image.. same as that one and marked as 'correct front cover UK version'.

Incidentally it's in a half-decent 2 for £15 at Amazon at the mo..

Cheers, Would have looked nice in one of them books, deservedly so too.

Gojirosan 25th January 2011 10:13 AM

A warning:

The Korean DVD of Carl Schenkel's under-rated giallo-esque Knight Moves has just arrived.

It has a very murky, dark picture and despite claiming to be 16:9 on the cover is a pan and scan 4:3 rendering from the original 'scope ratio.

Avoid.

Edit: ugh, on viewing it upsampled onto my TV instead on on my PC, it really is a lousy transfer - jerky motion and interlacing lines quite apparent. Wouldn't surprise me if it was from a TV station U-matic or a very clean VHS source. Terrible. I have just spent a tenner on the OOP UK DVD to replace it all ready. How annoying.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 25th January 2011 10:16 AM

Thanks for the warning. I hadn't previously heard of the film but shall add it to the ever-growing list of movies I want to watch but, on no account, will I import from Korea!

floyd75dylan 25th January 2011 11:42 AM

Finishing off the rest of my Shameless collection.

Rat Man
The Frightened Woman
Venus In Furs
The Designated Victim
Baba Yaga
Footprints
Satans Baby Doll
Love Goddess Of The Cannibals
The Beast In Space

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 25th January 2011 11:56 AM

Nice haul, Floyd. I love Footprints but really need to find time to re-watch the whole lot.

My Region A The Social Network came this morning so I shall give that a watch at some point this week.

nekromantik 25th January 2011 02:01 PM

finally put me order in for Enter The Void US blu!
It been confirmed the DVD version has the longer cut of the film plus it has 12 mins of deleted scenes which are not on the French or Japanese releases BUT its missing a option to see the theatrical cut version which aint a big deal for me.

It has been delayed though there has been no official annoucements from MPI of IFC.
It was meant to be released today but no stores in the US or websites have any stock of it and all say on backorder.

kingofwitches666 25th January 2011 05:25 PM

Couple of nice bits dropped through the letter box today:

Good purchases!! The Psycho PQ is stunning.

I bought Sophie Scholl earlier. A WW2 film that looks at an actual group Germans who were working against the Nazi party during the war. A unique perspective! Based on factual documents released not so long ago by the German government! Looking forward to watching this.

I've got a VHS/DVD combo yet I haven't watched a VHS in years and years. Having a rummage in the loft I found some Disney Videos and also the House Trilogy too. Haven't seen any of the House (1986-89) films though, any good?

bdc 25th January 2011 08:55 PM

I also still have a vcr (2 actually) and loads of tapes.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 25th January 2011 08:57 PM

I also have two VCRs - but only two tapes... I could watch my entire VHS collection simultaneously!

bdc 25th January 2011 08:58 PM

I wonder which tapes you held on too?

nekromantik 25th January 2011 09:00 PM

I have 2 VHS machines still, but my Betamax decks went in a skip when I moved a few years ago.

That's one way to say it.

The Turtles VHS is more a keepsake from childhood - although I did watch it not too long ago... :D

Anyone recommend any decent Roman Polanski blu's?
Doesn't matter about the region as I own a multi-region player.

Probably can't go wrong with the Criterion blu of Repulsion. Don't have it myself yet but heard great reports.

Totally different but I'm a big fan of The Pianist which is in the Studio Canal collection. Other than that, I'm not sure what else is out? Frantic might be?

nekromantik 26th January 2011 12:37 AM

Placed me order for Enter The Void US blu
which contains 12 mins of deleted scenes on top of the directors cut version of the film!
Stores were late in getting stock so will find out tomo if movietyme has got any stock in.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 26th January 2011 08:32 AM

Last night, I ordered Mesrine Parts 1 & 2, pre-ordered Once upon a Time in America in Play.com's 2 for £18 sale and contacted HMV because Spartacus is £6.99 in their sale but, when you add to basket, it appears there as £13.49!

And now it's showing at £13.99

Spartacus (2011): BLU-RAY: hmv.com

I'd love to see a decent Blu of Chinatown get a release.

Spartacus is a brand new blu ray (came out monday) so can't believe they would have sold it for £6.99. Sounds like a bit of false advertising to me; get on the phone to trading standards :p Cheapest I've seen it individually is for £9.99 on play.com.

They have some decent blu rays in that 2 for £18 deal. I was so tempted to get Mesrine (loved it in the cinema!) but went for Once Upon a Time In America and Spartacus in the end. Shame they couldn't do a '2 for £18 OR 3 for £24' deal or something of the like

I know -- I checked the site first thing this morning only to find that it was not in the sale anymore and was back up to full price. Grrrr!
