I nearly bought A Touch of Sin for a lot more than £4 from CEX the other day  It sounds good, let me know!

I bought a poundland BD of American Hustle about 18 months ago, it's still got the shrinkwrap on it, something about Jennifer Lawrence (and Bradley Cooper) really winds me up haha

Demoncrat 29th November 2018 05:15 PM

Oooh he's a total cnut in it as well

IMO

Demoncrat 29th November 2018 05:28 PM

Pity it’s not “the complete collection” now, and i’m dreading to watch Leprechaun: Origins. I know he’s a wrestler, but what kind of a name is Hornswoggle?!

Leprechaun Origins was sooooo bad when I attempted to watch it. Both myself & the wife agreed it was too slow & boring to endure, think we made it about 35-45 mins in, we really tried as we have a soft spot for stuff like the Leprechaun series but didn't enjoy it at all.

Good luck! Lol!

I saw Mamma Mia Here We Go Again at the cinema three times so that answers your question. This year i have enjoyed movies that i normally have no interest in and wouldn't watch including Crazy Rich Asians and The Greatest Showman.

I really enjoy both mamma Mia films and anyone who likes Mrs Brown's boys shouldn't be judging anyone's tastes!

A near perfect family movie which is a highly uplifting and emotional viewing experience featuring a great soundtrack. It has flaws but they can be overlooked when a movie is so enjoyable.

Decided to upgrade my copy of The Sect. Now that there is a cheaper blu-ray amaray set from German Koch Media, I decided to buy that instead. Will sell the shameless Shameless blu-ray to Cex tomorrow. Take a look at this image comparison, there's really no contest at all:

I agree with this - the story is pretty standard “underdog overcoming adversity” stuff but it exudes a warmth and charm that’s sorely missing from most contemporary mainstream films - the songs are great too.

There's also a decent region free release from the US as well and can be picked up at a reasonable price. https://www.wowhd.co.uk/the-sect-aka...r/751778951109

Thanks. Any idea how, in terms of A/V quality, it compares to the German release?

It looks great, with rich colours. A lot better than the Shameless release and I would say that it surpasses that German release as well.

Justin101 3rd December 2018 07:11 PM

Apparantly the German release pushes a blue colour timing where as the American one is more natural. I'd lean towards the American but as I'm not buying it (boring film) it's up to yourselves :D

Thanks for your feedback – I'll probably go for the American one from Amazon.

Recent arrivals. Criterion Collection Flash Sale haul, a bunch of recent releases (partly thanks to my second £50 Pure Rewards voucher of the year; switching most of my pre-orders from Amazon to HMV has now made a big difference, especially with the 2 for £25) and my Vinegar Syndrome Black Friday sale order. No one does slipcovers like Vinegar Syndrome, embossed, spot-gloss, die-cut, honestly so beautiful if you appreciate physical media / product design. Heard loads of great things about The House On Tombstone Hill, really excited to check that out.

I really like the slipcases on the Carpenter discs. It's not often i like newly commissioned artworks but i love these.

I watched the restored Fog dvd myself the other night. There's a big difference between dvd versions in terms of picture quality so hopefully the blu's sparkle.

Yeah, I agree. Really like the artwork on the Studio Canal Carpenter discs. I'm guessing they've done very well for Studio Canal, as they already seem to be filtering out without slips. Hopefully we see more in that vein from SC, they're sitting on a bunch of great genre films.

A mixed bag for the weekend, Blade Runner was from my mate who scratched my BD beyond repair by dropping his BD player while trying to open the stuck drawer so he got me a new one from HMV (all sorted) the Sicario double BD was £4.99 from Oxfam and the Willis BD was in a 2 for £1 deal with the Oldboy DVD and the Carlin DVD was only 50p. Weekend sorted.

Ordered Criterion UK's 25 film Zatoichi blu-ray set from Amazon UK as it's currently mispriced at 21.93 pounds only. I hope Amazon honor that misprice and send it to me! Weirdly delivery is stated as 1-2 months but at that price, I can happily wait.
